Tesla's Seating Engineering Department is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Vehicle Engineering team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on innovative seating solutions, combining structural engineering with robotic and artistic elements. As an integral part of Tesla's engineering team, you'll be responsible for the complete lifecycle of seating systems, from concept to end-of-life.

The position involves working with various seating commodities including structures, mechanisms, actuators, cushions, and more. You'll be contributing your expertise in structural components, including stampings, welding, bolted joints, and engineering composites. The role demands both specialist knowledge and versatile engineering capabilities, as team members typically serve as both experts and polymaths.

Requirements For Mechanical Design Engineer, Seating

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of exceptional ability
  • Design engineering experience with demonstrated interest in multidisciplinary engineering
  • Hands on experience where you have built something
  • Hand-sketching skills
  • Automotive engineering with seating experience is preferred but not mandatory
  • Organized
