Description For Process Development Engineer

Via Separations is an innovative Boston-area startup revolutionizing industrial process efficiency. Having recently delivered their first commercial facility in H1 2024, they're at the forefront of market-driven energy technologies. They're seeking a Process Development Engineer to bridge technical development and operational excellence.

The role combines software development expertise with manufacturing process optimization. You'll be responsible for designing and implementing software solutions that streamline workflows and enhance manufacturing processes. Working with both internal teams and external customers, you'll gather requirements, develop scalable solutions, and ensure seamless integration with ERP and MES platforms.

The ideal candidate brings 2+ years of manufacturing experience, strong coding skills in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and SQL, plus familiarity with cloud services. You'll need to balance technical expertise with excellent communication skills, as you'll be collaborating across departments and presenting solutions to various stakeholders.

Responsibilities For Process Development Engineer

  • Design, develop, and maintain software solutions that improve company workflows and address process inefficiencies
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external customers to gather and document requirements
  • Validate and test software solutions to ensure functionality, reliability, and scalability
  • Analyze existing workflows, identify improvement opportunities, and implement process optimization strategies
  • Support the integration of solutions with manufacturing systems, including ERP and MES platforms
  • Report out on project status and manage timelines and deliverables for high visibility initiatives

Requirements For Process Development Engineer

  • Degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years professional experience working in manufacturing environments
  • Proficiency in Python, JavaScript or TypeScript, and SQL
  • Familiarity in database structure and cloud services (AWS)
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to balance competing priorities
  • Ability to work from Watertown, MA office at least 3 days/week
  • U.S. work authorization is required
  • Some travel (up to 5%) may be required
