Description For Lead Data Engineer - Identity and Device Data

On any given day at Disney Entertainment & ESPN Product & Technology, we're reimagining ways to create magical viewing experiences for the world's most beloved stories while also transforming Disney's media business for the future. This role involves building and maintaining our Identity and Device Data products, serving as a comprehensive source of truth for customer identifiers and their devices.

As a Lead Data Engineer, you will:

  • Build and maintain product-driven initiatives to improve and expand Identity and Device data product offerings
  • Enhance/improve the underlying codebase to be extensible, reusable, and maintainable
  • Enhance/redesign existing data models to modernize products and improve performance
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, QA, and other stakeholders
  • Serve as an advanced resource to other Data Engineers and mentor junior team members
  • Participate in code reviews and problem-solving

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 7+ years of big data engineering experience
  • Deep hands-on experience with distributed systems (Hadoop/Databricks)
  • Strong Python, Scala/Spark and SQL skills
  • Experience with cloud databases (Snowflake, Redshift, Big Query, Databricks)
  • Deep understanding of Data Modeling techniques
  • Operational experience in multi-system production environments
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills
