Description For Cloud Operations Engineer

Join Oracle's Global Operations team as a Cloud Operations Engineer in Dublin, working on cutting-edge cloud services. This hybrid role requires at least three days per week in the office and offers an exceptional opportunity to kickstart your career in cloud computing. You'll be instrumental in delivering cloud experiences that impact users globally, working with OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) services.

The position combines hands-on technical operations with software engineering tasks, focusing on maintaining and improving critical cloud services such as Ksplice, Oracle Linux YUM Service, and OS Management Hub. You'll be part of a dynamic team responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and enhancing cloud services while working with state-of-the-art technologies including Kubernetes, Docker, Python, and various cloud platforms.

As part of the role, you'll handle both day-to-day operations and long-term improvement projects, participating in a 24x7 global operations team spanning from India to Ireland to the USA. Responsibilities For Cloud Operations Engineer

  • Improve monitoring, notifications, configuration and deployment of services
  • Perform proactive service checks and monitor/triage system/application alerts
  • Perform change management activities for services such as upgrades and patching
  • Identify and implement opportunities for automation
  • Coordinate, document and track critical incidents
  • Improve availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of service control plans
  • Participate in service capacity planning and demand forecasting
  • Participate in regular rotations as part of 24x7 operations team

Requirements For Cloud Operations Engineer

  • BE/BTech or ME/MTech in Computer Science, or equivalent
  • 1+ years of work experience as a software, site reliability or customer support engineer
  • Good technical writing and communication skills
  • Basic Linux system administration knowledge and experience

  • Strong analytical skills to identify problem root causes
  • Ability to work independently and across teams
  • Experience with IaaS, PaaS and SaaS architectures (preferred)
  • Experience with virtualized and containerized systems (preferred)
