This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge vehicle design, specifically focusing on exterior glass systems of Tesla vehicles. As a Glazing Design Engineer, you'll collaborate with pioneering Designers and Engineers throughout the entire product design cycle, from initial conceptualization to final product launch.

The position requires a unique blend of technical expertise and innovative thinking, as you'll be responsible for developing and optimizing glazing systems that meet Tesla's high standards for both functionality and aesthetics. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, including Autopilot, Interiors, and Thermal engineers, to ensure seamless integration of components.

The ideal candidate brings a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least two years of industry experience. Proficiency in 3D modeling and a strong understanding of engineering principles are essential. Responsibilities For Mechanical Design Engineer, Glazing

  • Serve as a member of the Vehicle Engineering Team to support automotive glazing and closure system development
  • Conceptualize, design, engineer, and launch components for Glazing, Seals, and Trim products
  • Work with Autopilot, Interiors, Thermal, Antenna, Mechanisms, and Sealing Engineers
  • Establish system level architecture and functionality
  • Participate in iterative process with Tesla design and styling studio
  • Optimize Glazing designs including heater grids, coatings, and interlayers
  • Support manufacturing processes and glass stack selections
  • Interpret/develop Tolerance Analysis, CAE, DFM, DFMEA, PFMEA simulations

Requirements For Mechanical Design Engineer, Glazing

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of two years industry experience in consumer product design or related field
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling utilizing CATIA V5/V6 or similar
  • Knowledge of design for manufacturing principles
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and mechanics of materials
  • Experience with cutting edge manufacturing technologies (preferred)
  • Knowledge of specifications, DFMEAs, DVP&R's development (preferred)
