Software Engineer Interview Experience - Munich, Bavaria

Process

My interview process was broken down into several stages, including a small talk with HR, several technical online interviews, and a day-long onsite interview, overall more than 8 hours. What surprised me a lot is that my interviewers were not prepared for the interview; some of them told me they did not know why they were assigned to my interview. The coding tasks were vaguely formulated. For example, they asked me to develop an application without stating any concrete requirements. So, I spent almost half of the interview asking questions to derive requirements. I would say that for a company working in the automotive industry, this is a very strange approach. The most awful part for me was that I spent more than eight hours of my life on interviews with this company, and what I got was something like, "Sorry, we cannot offer a position for you now, but you can keep trying." There were no meaningful explanations supporting this decision. Additional requests from my side to give meaningful feedback were ignored.
