Pros
  • Good benefits.
  • Good people there (when you can find them or they happen to come across you).
  • Resources available to tap into for plenty of scenarios in the world of consulting and development.
  • A great manager once said, "You could probably make two to three times your salary somewhere else. But will you have access to the resources Accenture has, the wide range of tools, the experiences with a wide variety of clients that you can only get with Accenture?" (This was a double-edged sword because although it empowered me, it convinced me to stay longer than I should have.)
Cons

Please note: All the cons listed are based on my personal experiences. As you see with other reviews, the journey is different for everyone. Here is a sample of mine from the past 10+ years:

  • Several poor mentalities, i.e., "square peg in round hole," "toxic cliques."
  • It's too big; everyone is a number, except for people in the cliques.
  • Dog eat dog without realizing it: Collaboration is very important to meet success. Working with others can still lead to overshadowing if not careful. And if you have great ideas around the wrong people, they may steal those ideas and use them in their recognition, even promotion stories.
  • Poor compensation, especially for People of Color (PoC). Unless you know managers and directors who care enough to vouch for you, it can be a struggle to receive proper compensation.
  • Good leadership is few and far between. Leadership will have no clue, look to their team members, and take credit as if they came up with approaches and ideas.
  • Manager/Lead accountability at the project level can be abysmal, especially if things go wrong.
  • Micromanagement can be extreme, depending on who you work with.
  • If you're an introvert, even with a lot to offer, it will be a struggle. Accenture is quick to put down certain mindsets instead of empowering.
  • Can instill a fear that despite all the good you can accomplish, it's not enough.
  • In any job/workplace, work/life balance is essential. Finding that balance varies from project to project.
Advice to Management
  • Client Value Creation - Be true to delivering quality to your clients, versus cranking out a house of cards to get the next deal(s).

  • One Global Network - Recognize the value, "truly" recognize the value the global network of employees have to offer. Make sure to elevate, nurture, and grow resources at all levels.

  • Respect for the Individual - Stay true to your word and respect people. Not just people who know how to say sweet words in the moment, but look out for people who may appear timid but are in fact powerful when given a deeper look.

  • Best People - Examine, explore, and nurture everyone brought in. Some of the best people are not in clear sight, but they are there.

  • Integrity - Make it possible for employees to review Leads/Managers.

  • Stewardship - Instill confidence in your employees so that they may have an ownership mentality and want success for all involved.
