Pros

Interesting work, good learning opportunities, pleasant and non-toxic environment.

Cons

Very hard to progress. When you start, you have to take whatever project you can get, and it is frequently out of your hands. So there is a lot of chance involved in advancement opportunities.

Also, last year there were no pay rises unless you were promoted, and very few people were promoted. I joined as level 11, but the level 10 role has been abolished. So to get promoted, you have to jump 2 levels and compete with 2 grades of people. This would be fine if not for the lack of annual pay rises during a time of high inflation.

Advice to Management

Getting rid of level 10 was a mistake. There also needs to be significant pay rises next year, as pay has declined significantly relative to inflation over the last two years. If there is no pay boost, that would mean I've spent three years accumulating experience and certifications for a steadily declining salary and the same remuneration I got as an inexperienced hire. This experience would be better rewarded elsewhere.
