Quite possibly the most stressful time of my life
They kept paying my rates.
They stopped paying me and cancelled my contract without telling me or the government client I had been subcontracted to. I had no oversight or anyone to contact with problems. Tasks were often unclear or well above the level I was hired for. A developer is not an architect; they cannot design a full system.
Make yourself available to your employees and contractors.
When you offer mentorship, provide it.
If you're taking an entry-level position, don't expect an architect.
