- Management quality is dependent on the team you're on.
- Placement on projects is dependent on demand; you can be placed on a project with less career growth.
- Compensation for full-time employment is lower.
- You are pushed more and more toward management tasks and responsibilities the more competent you are.
- Not every senior developer is cut out to be a manager.
- Not every manager is cut out to be a mentor.
- Middle management roles should be there to help assist (not detract) from work efficiency, performance, and maintaining procedure and best practice.
