Pros

As a junior, there are possibilities to work on interesting things that have nothing to do with your training, just because "you were at the right place at the right time". Though it's a double-edged sword. If you wanted to make sure your assignment follows your training, you might feel quite frustrated for doing A when you applied to do B. Alternatively, you can end up working on a very boring assignment with difficulties to get out.

Cons
  1. You will hit a glass ceiling if you want to remain somewhat in tech, as higher management has clear sales incentives. It makes sense: the business model is about selling projects.

I would not recommend doing an entire tech career in Accenture, as it's hard to build expertise and you can become someone who:

  • improvised many things, but got expertise in nothing

or the opposite:

  • an expert in a very narrow domain, for which your past experiences make you receive the same assignments again and again as long as it's in demand.
  1. You will hardly find very advanced tech people to learn from (probably related to point number 1).
Advice to Management

Create a tech/individual contributor career path to try to finally retain some talented people for more than a couple of years.
