Promotion solely depends upon your project, and mostly you will not get promoted timely (beware) due to internal politics.
Salary gets incremented like a snail/tortoise. You will see that your juniors will earn more than you easily.
They will not release you from a project if you ask; they will only kick you out if you are no longer needed by them.
Make sure hard-working employees get their timely promotion/appraisals and their project release (on employee interest) after 18 months working on that project.
