Good chance of working on legacy projects. It's hard to find a solid engineering role with modern technologies.
Recognize that software engineers, particularly graduates, are usually highly motivated to get stuck into interesting development work and learn new things. If there is a genuine shortage of development roles where they will be exposed to new things, then perhaps ensure there's still a focus on training and encourage exposure to the latest technology and industry developments.
