Pros

Lots of flexibility and empowerment to determine your career path and destiny.

Good work/life balance.

Cons

While everyone has full responsibility for their career, promotion recommendation, and assignment, this becomes counterproductive as real talent gets overlooked.

Nobody has responsibility for making sure people are assigned to roles, so the bench is often bigger than it should be.

Performance appraisal is based on who shouts loudest, so the quiet guys who quietly produce good results get overlooked.

Basically, if you can make a lot of noise and hot air, then you'll succeed here!

Advice to Management

At some point, the leadership needs to do some leading and take responsibility for allocating people to suitable assignments and assessing talent.
