Although more than 10 years old, Adyen still has a start-up feel to it. This is evident in all the typical tech start-up perks, such as a barista and great lunches, but most importantly, it is evident in the great culture.
There is a no-nonsense attitude where everyone keeps working for the good of the company instead of themselves, and people remain approachable. This is in great part a result of the time and attention spent by senior management on preserving this atmosphere, even though the company grew.
My colleagues are fun to work with and really smart, which for me is perfect. I feel like there is a true meritocracy at Adyen.
Beware that Adyen is a high-pace company that requires you to be able to adapt quickly. It also assumes all employees are self-reliant. If you prefer a lot of guidance or a set career path, you probably are not a good fit. You have to be willing to create your own opportunities.
