Engineer Interview Experience - United States

Process

Affirm contacted me because my profile matched a job they were recruiting for. The entire process took weeks, and I never heard back. It's a shame they would ghost me after I spent so much time with their teams.

The process included:

  • A recruiter interview
  • A technical interview
  • A manager interview
  • Four additional technical interviews

In addition, after the first technical assessment, I had to sign an NDA. However, nothing was discussed in detail that made it seem like that would have been required. Ultimately, there were between 8-10 hours of interviewing spread across many days. While there were overlapping parts in the technical interviews, they were supposed to be focused on different aspects and domains.

Many of the interviewers appeared distracted by things going on at home various times throughout the interviews. At times, they even had to pause the interview completely to deal with dogs or visitors.

After all of this, I had to seem gracious just to be in the running and act like I was really excited about the job. Overall, I feel like it was a strange experience, and I can't help but feel like I wasted my time.
