Pros
  • Real work, shipped to production.
  • Code reviews are very comprehensive and extensive.
  • You can choose to continue as part-timers (and eventually a full-time employee).
  • Get to experience the maintenance more than the creation of code.
  • Work environment is not stressful, and the people there are nice.
  • Convenient location at Central World.
  • Great amenities, e.g., high-end hardware, nice offices, massages, ice cream day, clean toilets.
  • Competitive pay.
Cons

Sometimes I feel lost in my work. Mentors are full-time employees, so you can't expect 24/7 QnAs.

Agoda is a big company, so the pipeline of making a feature is very long and complicated. For example, a simple button may take 2-3 weeks to be able to fully deploy.

One may feel that their work is very minimal and has no impact, unlike other people who intern in startups and get to do bigger features.

Agoda is a great place to experience a corporate work environment, but I cannot recommend it as a place for learning coding.

Some features are still broken, such as mocking data for some services is impossible, making the dev experience abysmal.

Advice to Management
  • Next time, please limit the orientation to at most 1 day.
  • The training process should be mixed with a working phase (1st sprint).
