Step 1: Screening of resume by HR. They'll ask you basic questions like, "Tell me about yourself," "Why Akamai?" (visit their website and know about their work, CEO, clients), description of the job you are applying for. Sound enthusiastic. This call lasts for about 2-3 minutes.
Step 2: The hiring manager will call you for a technical interview. Basic questions on HTTP, HTTPS, DNS, concepts you have mentioned in your resume, how Google works, caching, why Akamai, etc. This technical telephonic call will last for 30 minutes. Sound enthusiastic and communicate well.
HR will mail you if you are selected or not. If selected, they'll give you topics to choose for a PPT. Enough time is given to prepare (1 or 2 weeks).
Step 3: They'll ask you to come to their office to give a PPT on the topics: HTTP or DNS. You'll have to present in front of 3 interviewers, and the duration given is 1 hour. You can either sit or stand while presenting. An LCD TV is used, and you can also make use of the whiteboard for explanation. Keep the minimum number of slides (up to 15 slides, keep more pictures and not the content) as they'll drill you on each sentence of your slide. Explain everything in simple words. Read the World Wide Web specification while preparing. Expect in-depth technical questions. They can also give scenario-related technical stuff to see how good you are at problem-solving. Be positive, smile. They also check for your communication skills. Make sure that you complete your PPT; don't make them question more.
I lost in this round as I couldn't complete my PPT, not that I had put too many slides. They questioned me for 30 minutes nonstop, due to which I wasn't able to complete. The interviewers are least bothered/ignorant. Around 97% of them get rejected in this round for no reason. Candidates prepare their PPT, practice well, take out their time from their busy schedule, travel so far. Management should keep an eye on these interviewers who behave in such an ignorant/disinterested manner (bothered about their meetings, working on something else).
Further rounds: 5 puzzles (30 minutes), managerial (keep your cool), a namesake HR round (last round).
