Process

Was referred by a friend.

Initially, I was referred for a different profile, but then the recruiter recommended my profile for a Solutions Architect role.

  1. Got a call from the recruiter to check if I would be interested, my current CTC, and my current profile.
  2. Telephonic manager round with the hiring manager again to understand my current profile and check if I am okay to work in night shift. He asked a few basic questions on DNS and HTTP.
  3. I was then given topics to prepare for a presentation round. The topics were related to HTTP, Cookies, Session management, commands, SSL, etc. I was given about 2-3 weeks to prepare.
  4. Presentation round was onsite, where a panel of 3 sat for the presentation and asked cross-questions on what I was presenting.
  5. After the presentation round, I had a puzzle round where they gave me 5 situations to resolve. This was fun.
  6. After this, I had a very long discussion with one of the managers where I got a chance to understand more on Akamai, current market position, and future growth plans.
  7. Another short F2F meeting with the hiring manager to check if I had any questions on the profile.
  8. After this, I had a telephonic HR round where they mainly wanted to know if I would be joining or not if offered a position.
  9. Finally, they offered me a position with a proposed package, which I was not happy with. I negotiated, and we agreed upon a certain package after about 2-3 weeks of waiting (for approvals).

Overall, I liked the interview process. It was quick, and their approach is very logical.

Questions

I guess the main deciding round is the presentation round, where they already give you the topics to prepare for. I got HTTP: Versions, Persistent connections, Session management, Cookies, Commands, HTTPS, etc.
