Over a period of time, there has been a recurring theme of "we have hired you from big companies to take us there," but "Akamai is great because it doesn't have any 'archaic' practices like big companies." While the CDN business is growing, the company doesn't have the will to grow. Discussions on any new processes are thrown out because "we have been doing this way for x number of years."
Another of the themes has been the difficult interview process. Everyone will talk about how difficult the process was and how you are the cream of the crop. Most of these people have extremely bookish knowledge about how to go about implementing technology. Most of the discussions will be without real-life experience. As another reviewer put it, if they find you to be good, they will move into rooms to avoid discussing things in front of you.
The last theme has been of people more interested in pushing their agendas. This can range from:
Please make up your mind where you want to be: either a company with established processes or a company with no fixed processes.
Put a stop to people pushing their own products to Akamai at a cost.
Asked basic questions related to my experience and skills. The interviewer was good but he ghosted me in the end. The interviewer asked basic questions about the project I’m working on. I answered his questions but still, I didn’t get where I was wro
The first round was a LeetCode question, with three different questions. The interviewer expected optimized answers. Even if you solve the problem, it must be optimized to go to the next round. So, reduce both time and space complexity.
The Akamai interview process typically includes an initial phone screen, followed by technical interviews focusing on coding, algorithms, and problem-solving. It may conclude with behavioral assessments and a final interview.
