The recruiter reached out to me for a Front-End Engineer position on a team that was acquired by Amazon a few years ago. I had a quick phone screen with the hiring manager. A few days later, I had a technical phone interview. This technical interview was incredibly easy, and I received an email a couple of days later to schedule an on-site interview.
The on-site interview was full of frustration and disappointment. First, the scheduler never sent me an email with the virtual interview link, and I didn't realize that the on-site confirmation email didn't include the link until 15 minutes before the interview. So, I basically missed the first on-site interview. I was already so discouraged by this even before the actual interview.
After missing 45 minutes of the first interview, the hiring manager reached out to me and rescheduled the missed interview right after the "last" on-site interview. Also, all the coding challenges had nothing to do with algorithm and data structure questions from LeetCode, where the recruiter strongly suggested I study very hard. So, I studied for weeks for nothing.
The overall interview process seemed so messy and unorganized, as if they were not part of Amazon and conducted the interview the way they wanted. I didn't feel that I was having an interview with Amazon, but with a small startup company. There was nothing positive about this interview process.
If you have an opportunity to interview for a team that was acquired by Amazon, PLEASE avoid the interview with them and apply for other teams.
System Design: 15-25 minutes.
Lots of LP questions.
Two front-end questions that had nothing to do with LeetCode.
No data structure or algorithm questions.
