From my perspective, the Amazon SDE 1 interview process started with the Online Assessment (OA), which was the first major screening round. The OA included coding questions focused mainly on data structures and algorithms, along with work-style and situational assessments based on Amazon’s Leadership Principles.

After clearing the OA, I moved on to the interview rounds, where I was asked to solve coding problems while explaining my approach, thought process, time and space complexity, and edge cases. There were also behavioral questions about my projects, challenges I had faced, teamwork, ownership, and decision-making, for which I used the STAR method.

Overall, the process was challenging but manageable if I was comfortable with DSA, could clearly communicate my thinking, and had prepared well for Amazon’s Leadership Principles.
