I had my first online test. Once I cleared it, I attended a virtual (video call) interview that lasted for 4 hours.
Some of the interviewers were great, but a couple of the programming rounds did not go that well.
Although Amazon does not heavily focus on programming language specificity, one interviewer expected me to implement features available in Java using C#. For example, Java has a Map data structure, and I used the equivalent concept in C# (a Dictionary). He was not happy with this.
During a couple more Java-based questions, I mentioned that I come from a .NET background. However, he did not accept that answer and stated that I should not restrict myself to one language. I can agree with that sentiment in general, but I felt it was not appropriate during the interview.
