During the phone interview, however, there was no introduction or context. It went straight into SQL questions.
I received around six questions in total.
The interviewer was present for only the first three, and the remaining were handled by a support person or trainee. After completing all the questions, there was an unexpected wait as the main interviewer rejoined, which disrupted the flow.
Following the SQL portion, I was asked two Amazon Leadership Principles questions.
Finally, we moved to the system design section. Unfortunately, I was given very little time for this part, and the interviewer didn’t seem engaged. I was asked to begin without clarifying requirements or asking follow-up questions, and I had to rush through my response.
In the end, I was rejected. It was disappointing, especially since I had high hopes for the role, but there wasn’t much I could do under the circumstances.
