Standard STAR approach that Amazon has long used.
Initial phone/VC screen with an equivalent position engineer.
I skipped an intermediate review based upon the closeness of my fit to the role.
Followed up with a full loop of 6 or 7 50-60 minute interviews, each being focused upon one of the Amazon 16 leadership/management principles.
Interviewer then tries to low-ball you and gain commitment to a figure before making a non-binding (non)offer in writing, when they again try to low-ball you and gain commitment before making any formal contractual agreement.
There was a disconnect with the understanding I had been given as to the seniority of the role, and I chose not to proceed as the package was unacceptably low.
All in all, a huge amount of time was wasted by not being upfront about the boundaries of the package available at the start.
Follow the STAR approach in how you structure your responses to questions, please.
