Pros: AWS is a good place to get experience working on large systems. Standards for scalability and availability are high. The scope is large, and it’s easy to find interesting technical challenges if you’re willing to change teams.

Cons: AWS generally doesn’t care about CX quality or creating products that are a joy to use — if it scales, it ships. They’ll also routinely sacrifice operational posture to make deadlines. DevOps culture can make this tendency a real pain as you drown in ops while clueless PMs keep pestering weak SDMs for new features.

Pros: My team is very supportive. Flexible work hours, with time management focused on results rather than filling time quotas. Can be self-directed. Good stock options.

Cons: - Compensation heavily relies on the growth of stock. Base salary is much lower than the majority of other companies, but the stock compensates for that. If you like your position and team, it's probably worth resting and vesting for the four years. - They take frugality very seriously, being one of the LPs, and this gets a little frustrating at times. You know how well the company is doing and that the funds are there, but you have to justify hard for small work expenses you want compensated. Anything under $50 is rarely noticed, but expenses over $100-150 are taken more seriously. Especially during COVID, when you want to outfit your home office with basic needs (mouse, printer, shredder, etc.), you have to buy a cheap mouse, for example, because a good-quality one won't get approved. I mostly agree with being frugal, but certain things feel a little unnecessary.

Pros: Good pay Good team processes Good culture

Cons: Sometimes paralyzed by analytics. Don’t like intrusive ads on Echo Show etc. Need for cross-platform client code means lots of garbage JS.
