Cons: Amazon Leadership Principles do not apply to the senior leadership team, who make decisions that benefit themselves over survey results from a large portion of the engineering workforce. When making decisions that negatively impacted the said workforce, senior leadership told employees they needed to "disagree and commit" with what had been decided and refused to share any data to back up their decision-making. The company did a complete 180 on remote work after hiring many workers as fully remote during COVID, with no reasonable way to commute to an office, then more or less demanded they consider moving across the country or quit. Enforcement varies across organizations, but do not expect remote opportunities any longer. 401k match is only 50% of the first 4% (i.e., 2%). US holidays are minimal, but vacation granted after 1 full year of service helps with this.
