Process

I was referred by an employee at Amazon. The process consists of 3 stages:

An online coding assessment which lasted around 2 hours.
A phone screen where a recruiter asked me general questions about my motivations for the role etc.
A virtual onsite set of 4 interviews composed of a mix of technical/behavioural questions.

Each stage is dependent on successfully getting through the previous ones.

Pros: FAANG Amazon is big, so there are a lot of internal resources, classes, and courses to learn from. This is perfect to grow as an engineer. Flexible WFH for most of the week (depends on the manager). Heard that internal transfer is easy, which is good if you are easily bored (currently there is a hiring freeze, though, so it is paused).

Cons: - Very frugal, very few free stuff (free lunch, etc.) compared to other FAANG.

Decent work-life balance, with a lot of resources to learn from

Cons: Very hierarchical leadership. Fast deadlines and a rushed pace lead to sometimes sloppy work. Really large L5 band makes it hard to get promoted to Senior.
