Software Development Engineer Interview Experience

Process

The first round of screening, after passing ATS, was conducted online via Chime with two engineers. They asked me to implement a function that takes an integer and prints the colors of the rainbow based on which bit was set. For bits beyond the seventh, they asked them to cycle through the colors.

After three weeks, I received a follow-up to schedule four more online interviews.

  1. The first was with the same two engineers from the screening. They provided a C++ function and asked me to review and refactor it.
  2. The second was an Amazon Leadership Principles interview.
  3. The third was with a Senior Software Engineer who asked me to code Word Search 2, a difficult LeetCode problem.
  4. The fourth and final interview was with another engineer who asked the same question about reviewing and refactoring.

Questions

Word Search II.

Program to convert string to int representation. Review and refactor.

Program to print the color of the rainbow based on the ith bit set.
