Process

The interview process at Amazon typically consists of the following steps:

  • Resume Screening: The recruiter assesses your interest in and fit for the role based on your resume.
  • Phone Screening: Like any standard phone screen, the recruiter will assess your interest in and fit for the role. This could be 1-2 rounds.
  • Hiring Manager Interview: This is usually a more in-depth interview with the hiring manager.
  • Writing Test: Some roles may require a writing test.
  • Video Interviews: If you pass the phone screen, you’ll be invited to do subsequent video screens.
  • Onsite Interviews (Loop Interviews): These are 4-5 rounds of interviews that take place onsite. This is referred to as "the loop."
  • Hiring Committee Reviews: The hiring committee reviews the feedback from the interviewers and makes the final decision.
  • Offer or No Offer: Based on the hiring committee’s decision, an offer is made or not.

Amazon’s interview questions are behavioral-based. They’ll ask about past situations or challenges you’ve faced and how you handled them. It’s recommended to format your responses using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result).
