Process
I never spoke with a human. The tests were difficult in that they were all over the place. Study up on AWS. Their IDE for technical assessments was broken, which made it extremely difficult to debug, as the entire editor was marked red in spite of compiling fine.
Questions
Many, two tests, and a bunch on AWS.

Toxic Culture, Bad Managers
Software Engineer • Current Employee
April 12, 2021
Pros: Pretty good salary, although long hours reduces this value.
Cons: Toxic culture. Have had some terrible managers who only care about “delivering results” at the cost of engineers' health. Varies by team of course, but my experience has been highly negative.

You can do a lot better than Amazon
Software Engineer • Former Employee
Seattle, Washington, United States
July 23, 2017
Pros: Increase your core engineering competencies. Some smart people, as well as many average people. There is worse if you are desperate for a job.
Cons: Most people leave within a year. It's a brutal workplace, and people are generally unhappy.
On-call (unpaid overtime) and a lot of the work is operational, not particularly interesting projects.
It's very difficult to make suggestions or improvements.
You are expected to do small tasks handed down by managers, and there are no excuses for delays for any reason.
Creative thinking is not welcomed at Amazon.
