Solutions Architect Interview Experience - Seattle, Washington

Process

I applied for a Software Development Engineer (SDE) role for Amazon Alexa.

Shortly after, I was informed that the position was actually for an SDE role within Amazon Pay, and the focus of my application shifted accordingly.

I interviewed with an SDE who asked me STAR method questions, which are readily available online.

I "passed" this initial interview and was subsequently given a technical take-home assignment. I was told that if I successfully completed this assignment, I would proceed to a virtual onsite interview, or receive further communication if there were any questions regarding my submission.

The take-home assignment was relatively straightforward, and I believed I completed it correctly.

However, I was ultimately ghosted by the recruiter. I later saw on the Amazon careers website that my application had been rejected.

The recruiter eventually followed up, stating that they had moved forward with other candidates and could not provide specific feedback on my rejection.

My experience interviewing with Amazon felt like a significant waste of time.
