SW Development Engineer Interview Experience - New York, New York
Process
Two phone calls with HR.
Online test with two coding exercises.
The code must be complete, as test cases automatically check the code. Also, expect a couple of questions related to O(n) algorithm and the memory complexity of the proposed solutions.
The time is limited; you must be fast. It's better to have an IDE for coding and debugging and then copy-paste the code to the portal. The coding is easy for a senior engineer.
Onsite test.
Four sessions with a different Amazon engineer each.
Two sessions are for coding at a blackboard. The algorithms asked to be implemented were iterative numeric problems, very hard to solve in the dashboard within 15 minutes. The other two sessions are for design.
The coding is hard. You must practice a lot with iterative problems and algorithms.
Questions
Design an online pizza shop and scale it.
Design the Amazon Prime infrastructure.
