Nothing here, it’s a typical Amazon company.

Cons

I worked at Blink (Amazon) and can honestly say it was one of the most challenging and demotivating experiences in my career.

The ASIC and Firmware teams feel like sweatshops—there’s constant pressure with unrealistic deadlines, long hours, and minimal support. Compensation is below industry standards, and they seem eager to down-level new employees to save on costs, which immediately sets the wrong tone.

One of the biggest issues is the lack of a clear roadmap for future products. Instead of a structured plan, it’s a chaotic, reactionary approach where the team is always in firefighting mode. This puts incredible strain on employees, as they’re forced to deal with last-minute crises rather than working toward meaningful progress.

The management is a major pain point—incompetent and unwilling to take responsibility. They have a habit of pushing employees under the bus when things go wrong instead of stepping up to lead or improve processes. The cutthroat culture of backstabbing and constant finger-pointing makes it an unpleasant place to work, with little to no sense of collaboration or team spirit.

If you’re looking for a place with good culture, growth opportunities, and fair compensation, Blink is definitely not it.

Advice to Management
  1. Create a Clear Product Roadmap: The constant firefighting is unsustainable. Develop a long-term strategy for product development to provide direction and reduce chaos. Prioritize proactive planning over reactive management.

  2. Improve Compensation and Employee Retention: Pay employees competitively and stop down-leveling new hires. Recognize the value that skilled professionals bring and compensate them fairly to improve morale and reduce turnover.

  3. Invest in Competent Leadership: Provide proper management training and ensure leaders are equipped to support their teams, not undermine them. Managers should take responsibility for their decisions and foster a collaborative environment rather than a toxic one.

  4. Foster a Healthier Work Culture: Address the backstabbing and cutthroat environment. Encourage teamwork, transparency, and open communication to build a more supportive and innovative culture where employees feel valued.

  5. Prioritize Work-Life Balance: Reduce the pressure and excessive work hours by setting more realistic deadlines and distributing workload fairly. A healthier work-life balance will result in more productive and motivated employees.
