Joining Pay looks good initially.
Lots of learning will be here.
There are lots of cons about this company, and I am listing a few here.
There is no work-life balance in this company. They load employees with hellish amounts of work, requiring them to work 14-15 hours per day. Weekends are even sacrificed due to the tons of work.
Organizations say they don't follow a bell curve, but internally, they strictly follow it. HR Business Partners ask managers to put 10% of the employees in the team on a (Dev + PIP) plan. Managers will then look for a scapegoat to put on the development plan. The smallest mistake an employee makes will lead to their life becoming hell, and they will be put on a PIP plan, asked to do lots of activities to come out of the development plan. Literally, they grill the employee and treat them like a slave. This unfair treatment is more prevalent for India employees compared to onshore employees.
Employees here do a great job, so the company is growing. However, during appraisal time, they have numerous reasons for not giving a base salary hike. They will say share prices are increasing, so no hike for you.
They have three salary components: Base pay, a joining bonus for 2 years, and shares. So, generally, the employee's effective salary will be the same for 4-5 years, with a drastic drop after 2 years and even further after four years.
It is a totally manager-driven company with no role for HR Business Partners. Managers like bootlicking employees and ignore actual talent.
I advise all to think twice before joining Amazon. Don't just look at the initial compensation because here, your work-life balance will be sacrificed, and your health will be in a toss due to stress. "Health is Wealth"; you can earn money any time.
Please do not treat your employees as slaves.
Very hard questions, asking in detail about situations that can be found in textbook material. The interviewer did not have a positive attitude. It seemed like they just wanted to ask questions that could not be answered from textbooks.
I couldn't reach the interview because I was not able to clear the assessment. In the first question, they asked me a tough question on prefix sum, and the second question was also pretty tough. Even the behavioral round was very lengthy. They asked
First, the person introduced themselves and asked me a few questions. They were very easy, but you need to have good typing skills and good communication skills in order to perform well. However, there was a technical error during the screen share.
