Pros

Offers an attractive package. Freedom to take time off and work from home. Good infrastructure. Great technologies to work with. Many things to learn.

Cons

Amazon recruited for a DevOps Engineer position, but the actual work is that of a Support Engineer.

The role of a Support Engineer at Amazon involves troubleshooting issues rather than developing tools for automation. People with development experience should never join as a Support Engineer.

Most of them who join this role just for the sake of the brand feel a mismatch in skills and work. Support Engineers with development experience find their skills are underutilized.

Coming to work-life balance, management turns a blind eye to distributing the workload equally among its employees. This may not be applicable in all organizations, but it is the case at least in my team.

I regret accepting the offer of a Support Engineer.

Advice to Management

Do not recruit anyone for the role of Support Engineer who has development experience.
