Pros

Working at AWS has given me the freedom to try new ideas and innovate for our customers by promoting a culture of innovative thinking at all levels.

While constrained by set ways and short-term gains at other companies, AWS encourages thinking big and irrational optimism.

They provide the tools and resources to explore better ways to solve problems and a process to submit both small improvements and radical solutions to help our customers.

Cons

As a new hire, there is an overwhelming amount of information and adoption to a new culture. It is a small start-up company mentality with the backing of huge resources. Having worked large enterprises in the past, it was a mental challenge to merge the two seemingly contrasting views. However, in the end, its aim is customer obsession. It is sometimes difficult to break the mental legacy of working for large companies to such an agile and responsive role, with the personal responsibility at every level to drive long-term success over short-term gains.
