Amazon’s use of Pivot should be made illegal, as they formulate it as if you have a choice to stay under a performance improvement plan (to be fired later with no severance) or leave immediately with severance. This is just to avoid paying unemployment.
If you are a high-level developer, they don’t give you an annual increase as they claim their stock is doing great. But guess what? They will fire you before your stocks get vested and mark you ineligible for rehire. They screw your career so bad that all the benefits won’t make up for it.
