Pros

Due to Amazon's sign-on bonus structure, my salary during the first two years was fantastic. It's far below market average after the two years, though. The medical and dental benefits are also pretty nice.

Cons

Amazon is the most stingy company I've ever worked for. The company perks are basically, "Spend $1,000 on things on our website that we sell, and we'll give you $100 off." That's basically it. This offer doesn't work with things from other sellers either; it has to be sold by Amazon.

You only get 8 paid holidays and two weeks of vacation per year. Most managers suck. I was fortunate enough to have two great managers during my first year, but my current manager is the embodiment of every reason why people leave their jobs (micro-manager, cares more about himself than the customers' needs, constantly moving targets, etc.).

Compensation is VERY stock heavy. I don't mind getting stock if I can hold onto it, but at Amazon, you have to sell your RSUs every year or live on a paltry base salary. The base salary is difficult to live on in Seattle.

Advice to Management

Never leave Amazon. That way, I can rest easy knowing I'll never run into you again.
