Pros
  • The name
  • Lots of internal resources
  • Possible work-life balance if you are in certain orgs (e.g., Devices)
Cons

Mandatory 3-day-a-week RTO, May 1st (given two months' notice after years of messaging about flexibility and doing what's right for individual teams rather than making top-down blanket decisions).

Poor benefits/compensation compared to direct competitors (e.g., 0 parental leave if your baby is born in your first year on the job; a measly 6 weeks if born after 1 year).

Lots of talk about leadership principles, but top-down decisions run completely contrary to those same principles.

Advice to Management

The RTO decision was very "Day 2." So are a lot of our global policies. If you sincerely want to "Hire and Develop the Best" (and retain them), you need policies that support diversity, equity, and inclusion. Current policy trends discriminate against minorities, parents, and people with disabilities.
