Good experience, but not family-friendly
I've had a good experience at Amazon. I work with very intelligent people on technically challenging problems at large scale. I've been able to learn a lot from my peers, mentors, and senior engineers about good software design techniques, as well as system design fundamentals.
Not very family-friendly. Lots of young people and long hours are expected. On-call rotations are difficult to balance with children. It's a good place to start off if you're young, but difficult if you have a family with young children, like I have.
