Most leadership does not know tech at all. They might sometimes see front-end developers as better because they can show them the "glittery world." They are more interested in getting the finished product rather than the process. Had there been no engineers to push for the right path, leaders would not have given a [you know what] to completing the project.
Poor work-life balance exists in some teams, as the leadership just wants you to complete projects on time to improve business and their reputation. Nobody cares if you are working with multiple teams and spending nights to do that.
Business, frugality, and money are placed before the employees. We cannot argue that customers should be placed before employees, but the focus on business is so much that career development after the initial ramp-up is overlooked. As life progresses at Amazon, everyone from the top to the bottom becomes a factory soldier. Everyone learns a lot of process and gains a lot of knowledge when they join, but after some time, everyone just follows the same thing and does not grow as they used to. Team switches help with this rarely as well after a bit of experience.
Please take care of yourself.
