Pros
  • Amazon creates big impacts, so the changes you make have long-lasting impressions.

  • The people you work with are nearly always better than you. Make the most of it.

  • Amazon has a robust internal way of working, for better or worse. Learn to use the good parts to your fullest capacity and learn to live with the bad parts.

Cons
  • The work-life balance is really bad. While it is very team dependent, most of the times, it is bad.

  • Sometimes the internal system/process setup slows you down.

  • People are sometimes too self-oriented because that is what the system tells you to be. It rewards you to achieve your goals but doesn't look at the immense help you might have been for other team members.

In one word, Amazon is like your really pretty girlfriend who can be a lot of fun in the beginning, but slowly, as you get to know her well, you won't regret letting her go because you know she is not the best.
