Great company.
a). Amazon is perhaps one of the best companies when it comes to interesting projects. It almost includes all areas you can think of. It's leading in cloud computing and also releasing new devices yearly. Tons of challenges. Great leadership from Jeff Bezos. I like where this company is headed.
b). Amazon has an official dog policy that allows you to bring your dog to work on a daily basis, which is really cool.
c). Paid time off: 6 days. Pretty good. 3 sick days. Okay.
a). In terms of compensation, there is an average base salary and a great sign-on bonus. The stock bonus is a bit disappointing over the first two years. The allocation ratio for your stock bonus over four years is 5%, 15%, 40%, and 40%, after which it gets better. However, there is no cash bonus after the sign-on bonus. You also won't receive any stock bonus on your first performance review. Last but not least, their salary bump is minimal compared to other IT companies.
b). There are no perks at all. If you want free food, go elsewhere. If you want free parking, go elsewhere. If you want an office, go elsewhere.
c). Immigrant SDE1s do not receive green cards because they are not considered valuable to the company. SDE2s will get theirs after about half a year of service. However, exceptions can be given from time to time. Managers usually understand this and will help you.
d). On-call experience varies significantly from team to team. I cannot say much about that. My team is mostly okay, but I have heard horrible stories, and I am not planning to experience those.
e). People move very frequently. Promotion can be a problem when your manager keeps coming and going, and nobody has a set of continuous data points for you.
f). You get two weeks of vacation in the first year, and then three weeks starting from your second year. Two weeks is well below the IT company standard. However, they kind of make up for it by adding nine extra days (six PTO days and three sick days).
Grant green cards for immigrants immediately. Add perks. Those will help you keep your employees from moving.
Round 1: OA. Cleared in November 2024. No word until February 2025 when I was told I was scheduled for interviews. A week later, they wrote back stating that email was sent "by mistake" and should not be considered. Another recruiter reached out in
Before being considered for an interview, you will need to pass an OA. The interview process will consist of three interviews. * The first interview had two coding questions. * The second interview included two behavioral questions and a LLD qu
The interview process is too lengthy. It includes an online assessment that lasts for 4 hours, followed by a panel round consisting of three back-to-back interviews: one for LeetCode, one for system design, and one behavioral interview. My interview
