Pros
  1. Relative freedom when it comes to most technology choices (as long as you can make a case for it not hampering operational excellence, you can use any programming language you want).
  2. Lower-level management is generally understanding of personal circumstances.
Cons
  1. Despite their original promise that RTO would not affect virtual employees (on the eve of COVID, many people were hired as 100% virtual/remote without an office assignment), the company is now asking us to either move to one of the hub locations or quit.

  2. Despite the claims that "you own your career at Amazon," promotion processes above L5 depend more on the people around you than on your own merit.
