Many times, you need to work outside of office hours to finish the work, as deadlines are sometimes strict. Work-life balance is not good. If you feel you have not been performing lately, you experience the fear of being put on a Performance Improvement Plan, which basically means you will have to leave the job in 3 months.
Don't put people on a PIP for not performing on one single project; give them more chances to improve.
