Pros

The writing culture is appreciated; there's a standard process for everything. Everything is documented.

People are very friendly in real life and virtually. I get paragraphs of detailed responses for every question I asked.

There is a great team culture. No one points fingers when anything goes wrong; people try to help out to reach a solution together. When things go well, the team recognizes each other's contributions.

There are a lot of social events, and all are fully paid for and held during usual working hours. The manager doesn't expect anything to be done during those hours.

There is a 'Learn & Be Curious' day every fortnight to learn anything we want, be it AWS, blockchain, external tools, or internal tools.

Cons
  • Too many internal tools. Hard to navigate. Onboarding is intimidating.
  • 24/7 on-call week doesn't have much compensation.
  • A lot of chores and manual work, despite the effort in automating many requests already.
  • Plenty of languages. In our team, we mainly use Java, with a bit of Kotlin, a bit of Python, and internal languages.
  • Corporate is too big. We focus only on small parts of business logic, so it's not great to really learn about tech design.
