A good place to work
I joined directly from university as an SDE I. Amazon maintains a really high bar for all the things they do. I got thrown into that pool of people, and you eventually become like that.
- No micromanagement
- Flexible work hours
- Can take vacation any time (at least on my team)
- Can move to other internal teams very easily. Plenty of opportunities there.
- Work on some rare problems that no other company in the world is working on.
- Lot of stress
- On-call issues
- Pay changes only once a year. If you do well for six months, there is no reward for it.
