Pros

Intern pay is above industry levels. The work is challenging. It's a front-line technology setup that is actually very interesting and contemporary.

Cons

You get to work with some of the worst people in the industry. Amazon's policy of selecting English-challenged employees (Chinese) as mentors screws English-speaking interns. Grow up, Amazon. Conduct English tests for your employees and shed those who fail immediately if you want to get talented interns.

Advice to Management

Make the workplace more intern-friendly. Make final selections merit-based and not on the basis of the mentor's whims, fancies, or country of origin. Preferably, put US English speakers in evaluating interns to prevent selection favoritism and manipulation.
