Pros

Projects tend to be high impact.

Cons

Constantly losing people. Senior members are spread thin and can't provide as much guidance. Hiring occurs very slowly for some orgs, which leads to a vicious cycle. Promotions rely on feedback from people who likely won't be around by the time you are up for promotion.

Advice to Management

Find ways to incentivize being on otherwise undesirable core teams.
